Split PDF
Splitting turns one document into several. It is what you need when a single scan contains five different invoices, or when a bound report has to go out as individual chapters.

How to split pdf
- Upload the PDF you want to break apart.
- Define the page groups, separating each group with a semicolon.
- Download the ZIP containing one PDF per group.
Split, extract or remove?
Reach for splitting when the output genuinely needs to be more than one document. If you only want a shorter version of the same document, extracting is simpler and leaves you with a single file.
| Tool | You get back | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Split PDF | Several files, as a ZIP | One scan holds several separate documents |
| Extract pages | One file with a chosen subset | You need to send only a few pages |
| Remove pages | One file minus the pages named | A few pages should not be shared |
Writing the page groups
Each group becomes its own PDF, and groups are separated by semicolons. Writing 1-3; 4-8; 9 produces three files: the first three pages, the next five, and the last page on its own.
Numbering follows the order the pages appear in the document, which is not always the number printed on the page - front matter and cover pages shift the two apart.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened and rewritten by your browser, so it never leaves your device. That matters for contracts, invoices and anything with personal data in it.
Why do I get a ZIP instead of separate downloads?
Browsers block pages that try to start many downloads at once. One archive is reliable and keeps the parts together in order.
Can I split one page into two halves?
No. Splitting works at page boundaries. To cut a two-up scan down the middle, crop the PDF instead.
