Files you process

Every tool on Really Cool Online Tools runs entirely inside your browser. When you convert, compress or resize an image, the file is read from your device, processed using the Canvas API and returned to you as a download. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and we never receive a copy.

The same applies to text: what you paste into the JSON formatter, Base64 tool, word counter, case converter or name picker stays in your browser and disappears when you close the page.

Data we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses or payment details, because none of the tools require them.

Our hosting provider records standard server request logs, which typically include IP address, user agent and the page requested. These are used to operate and secure the site.

Cookies

Really Cool Online Tools sets no cookies of its own. We do not use analytics cookies, and we do not track you between sessions or across other sites.

Advertising

The tools here are free, and the site is funded by display advertising rather than by charging you or selling your data. No ad network is live on this site yet. When advertising is switched on it will be Google AdSense, and this section describes exactly what that will mean.

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site, and its use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit here and to other sites.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
• What Google collects and how it is used is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Ads will always be labelled and kept visually separate from the tools. An ad will never be styled as a download button, a result or a menu item, and the files or text you process are never shared with an advertiser - they never leave your device in the first place.
• Where the law requires consent before advertising cookies are set - the EU, the UK and Switzerland under the ePrivacy Directive and the GDPR - you will be asked first through a consent banner, and ads will be non-personalised if you decline.

Third-party services

Fonts are served through Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google when a page loads. Our hosting provider serves the pages. Once advertising is live, Google AdSense will be embedded as described above. Nothing else is embedded.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no file, there is usually nothing of yours for us to export or delete. If you are in the EU, the UK or California and want to exercise a right of access, deletion or objection over the server logs described above, email contact@reallycoolonlinetools.com and we will respond within one month.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them.

Changes to this policy

If how we handle data changes - for example on the day advertising is switched on - this page is revised to describe what actually happens, and the date at the top changes with it.
