Why merging beats sending attachments
One file is harder to lose than five. Expense claims, tender submissions and visa applications routinely get rejected because a required page was in a separate attachment nobody opened.
Merging also fixes the ordering problem: attachments arrive sorted by filename, which is rarely the order a reader needs them in.

Is there a limit on how many files I can merge?
There is no fixed limit. Because everything is processed in memory, very large documents are bounded by what your device can hold rather than by a server quota.
Does merging reduce the quality?
No. Pages are copied across as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.
