How to meme generator
- Upload the image you want to use as the template.
- Type your top and bottom captions.
- Download the finished meme as a PNG.
What makes a caption land
Keep each line short. Two lines of large text read instantly in a feed; four lines of small text get scrolled past.
The white-text-with-black-outline convention exists for a reason: it stays readable over both bright and dark parts of an image without needing a background box.
Check the image is one you have the right to use. Reaction images circulate freely, but stock photos and press images are still licensed.
Frequently asked questions
Does my image leave my device?
No. The file is read and edited by your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue and no copy on a server.
Is there a watermark on the result?
No. The downloaded PNG contains your image and your captions, nothing else.
Can I use my own picture instead of a template?
Yes. Any JPG, PNG or WebP works - there is no fixed template library, you supply the image.
